Hello A-List Friends,

I have another big smile on my face today as I feature one more serious producer that I am thrilled to have on my A-List.   Switchback Ridge!   I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Kelly Peterson of Switchback Ridge during my big birthday weekend in Napa back in January.  Kelly pulled the corks on all three of the current Switchback Ridge wines and I was almost in heaven tasting these incredible reds.  The best part is I just heard back from Kelly that she had a small allocation for the A-List.

Shoot me email at tanya@winestreet.com or give me a call at 760-431-8455 or toll free at 877-653-2162 and let me know if you would me to put your name on a couple of bottles if still available.

Also, if you are not already on my A - List and wish to be, email me at the link just above.  Cheers, Tanya

Switchback Ridge

Switchback Ridge 2005 Merlot Peterson Family Vineyard $85This offers an incredible nose of toffee notes, like a warm pot of caramel, with a core of ripe black fruit.  This is one Cabernet lover’s Merlot that is full-bodied, fleshy and deeply structured with rich blackberry and black cherry fruit, milk chocolate, toffee notes, espresso, and toasty oak.  This offers incredible focus with a finish that goes on and on.  Close your eyes and you would think this was Cabernet, but what would you expect from Robert Foley, the incredible winemaker for Switchback Ridge?  I was “all over” this Merlot and was pleased to tell Kelly this was my favorite.   Robert Parker gave this a wonderful review with 93 points.  This is well priced on my A-List with prices commonly up to $150-160 on the web.

Switchback Ridge 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Peterson Family Vineyard Sorry, Sold Out    – This is a dense, massive Cabernet defined by serious intensity, complexity and definition. Rich notes of blackberry, cassis, mocha, charcoal, and toast. This powerful, full-throttled Cabernet shows remarkable concentration, coating the mouth with bold dark fruit and chewy tannins.  This single vineyard Cabernet comes from the Peterson Family Vineyard which is directly across from Duckhorn’s  Three Palms Vineyard at the northeastern tip of Napa . The soil here is very rocky, consistently producing very low yields of intensely flavored berries, resulting in extremely concentrated wines with explosive flavor – thanks to my friend, Bob Foley. This will be ready to drink in 2-3 years and will drink well for 15-20 years.  Robert Parker gave his a mighty 95 points.

What more can I say?  These are very limited.
