GTS Vineyards

Napa Valley

GTS Vineyards is the project of Baseball Hall of Famer, Tom Seaver, known to many as the greatest pitcher in the history of the National League.  Now with almost 40 years after Mr. Seaver first took the mound at Shea Stadium, Tom releases his inaugural GTS Cabernet. 

Tom is a hard-working perfectionist who actually enjoys the callous-building, hands-on labor of raising grapes with wife, Nancy, (who has long been a serious gardener).  With just a small three-acre vineyard on Diamond Mountain and two of the best talents in the valley, GTS Cabernet has now entered the cult cabernet market.

GTS Nancy's Fancy 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Seaver Family Vineyard Napa Valley $75 -- Rich, full-bodied and full of flavor, this is loaded with ripe red cherry – red plum fruit, with subtle notes of toffee, toast, and sweet oak.  This offers more approachable mountain tannins yet remains complex and well structured, finishing long and smooth.  Tom’s winemaking team did not set out to make two bottles for the inaugural release, however they found the two wines to be the best expression of the vineyard for this particular vintage.  

GTS 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Seaver Family Vineyard Napa Valley  (Sorry Sold Out)  – Full-bodied and dense, this single vineyard 100% Cabernet Sauvignon offers mighty flavors of dark cherry, plum, and cassis, with hints of  smoke and graphite.  This shows a solid midpalate, firm tannins, good complexity and a long finish reflecting its Diamond Mountain origins.  This south and southeast facing hillside vineyard offers small berries with deep flavors.  This is everything you would expect from Tom Seaver and the very talented Thomas Brown (winemaker at Schrader!, Outpost, Bisou, Tamber Bey, and more) and vineyard manager Jim Barbour (DR Stephens, Hundred Acre, Revana, Husic and more).

What more can I say? Tom is one heck of a good old guy, full of character and passion for wine.  I am pleased to offer the two GTS Cabernets on my A-List.  With just under 400 cases on the two wines, these are very limited.
